Girls Basketball Season is Coming!

OPEN GYMS: For those intending to play for the Lady Patriots this upcoming season, we have open gyms at Hyland Heights Baptist Church from 6 to 7:30 pm for middleschool level and 7:30 to 9 pm for high school level. Open gyms will be on Thursdays from this Thursday 9/19 through October 17^th. Either September 26^th or October 3^rd will be cancelled for another event in the gym so please check in later for an update on those particular dates. 

For those considering playing for the Lady Patriots, please consider the cost and time commitment:

Costs: The base cost is $650 with significant family volunteering & fundraising. The program runs on parent involvement, especially at games. For those that simply cannot or will not help, we can offer for you to pay an extra fee which will be hundreds of dollars but most parents just pitch in and help. We are planning two main fundraisers: sponsorships as in past years and another large event that everyone will participate in. Fundraising helps us keep fees down and subsidize our team cabin at the end of year tournament making it VERY affordable for families to go. In the past, we’ve been able to offer a stay in Gatlinburg, TN for around $500/family including food. We hope to do this again for even less with successful fundraising. 

Time: As mentioned above, we require volunteering from all our families at games and other activities to make the season work at a reasonable cost. Expect 20-30 hrs over the course of the season- we try to utilize people in the things they are comfortable so it is as enjoyable as possible and most of the time will be at events you will be attending already. In addition to the regular season tasks, everyone helps at the end of season tournament in Gatlinburg which we help operate as a fundraiser for our teams. You’re already there so it is not difficult for most families. The bigger issue from a time standpoint is the length of our season- you basically get two seasons for one in basketball and we run from October 21^st to March 7^th. For high school expect either practices or games four evenings per week (not Wednesdays) most weeks and we commonly have games on Saturdays also. At the middleschool level expect practices/games at least three evenings per week (not Wednesdays), often four, and there will be Saturday games.

October 17^th - Last Open Gym (optional)

October 21^st - In Person Registration (mandatory)

October 21^st - First practice

November 15^th -16^th - First tournament (Inwood, WV)

December 2^nd – First week of developmental level practice

November 22^nd - First regular season games

December 13^th -14^th - Christmas Classic Multi-Team Homeschool Event (Lynchburg, VA)

January – First developmental level games

February 13^th -14^th - State Homeschool Tournament (Harrisonburg, VA)

March 3^rd -7^th - HSPN East Coast Homeschool Nationals Tournament (Gatlinburg, TN)

March – Season End Party & HBC cleanup day

April – All Sports Year End Banquet
